Algorithm for Fast Detection of Stator Turn Faultsin Variable-Speed Synchronous Generators

Faults between stator winding turns of synchronous generators have led to specific changes in the harmonic content currents. In this paper, these are used detect faults variable-speed connected three-level converters during their operation. Currents typically measured for control purposes avoid installation additional sensors. The neutral point current converter is also evaluated under generator. Encoder-tuned dynamic filters based on Park transformation and Fourier coefficients together with low-pass selected harmonics variable speeds. geometric loci components proposed as a method distinguish healthy faulty conditions. Simulation experimental data test sensitivity, selectivity detection time technique different fault types. Generalization generator presented tested. Most cases were detected using harmonics.
